Object

Arrange 25 cards into 5 poker "pat hands" - straights or better.

Rules

At game start 25 cards are dealt to the tableau piles.

Swap any 2 cards on the tableau. The five poker hands from left to right are counted. The goal is to make each of them into pat hands - hands that do not have to be drawn to in draw poker - straights or better.

Poker Hands

Poker hands are as follows, ordered from least valuable to most valuable. Each hand is scored based as most valuable type:

• One Pair - Two cards of the same rank.
• Two Pair - Two sets of two cards of the same rank.
• 3 of a Kind - Three cards of the same rank.
• Straight - Five cards of sequential rank.
• Flush - Five cards of the same suit.
• Full House - A three of a kind plus a pair.
• 4 of a Kind - Four cards of the same rank.
• Straight Flush - Five cards of sequential rank of the same suit.
• Royal Flush - The ten, jack, queen, king and ace of the same suit.

The game Maverick was introduced in the 1958 episode of the TV Western "Maverick" entitled "Rope of Cards".
